"The glass vase is my favourite section of this canvas. Most people approach it expecting it to be the hardest part, and it is actually one of the most forgiving because the transparency means the tones blend naturally. Paint the stems through the glass first, then layer the vase reflections on top with lighter, more translucent applications. The tulip petals themselves I would paint by colour, starting with the darkest burgundy and working up through the reds, pinks, and whites last of all."
